Hacking is the old English term for riding a horse for pleasure; and it describes riding in Epping Forest perfectly. High Beech Riding School is based in the centre of over 6,000 acres of beautiful woodland in Essex, offering an unforgettable setting for escorted forest rides.
Our team has extensive knowledge of the forest and its many routes. We offer different lengths of hacks and a range of options to suit riders of varying experience, comfort, and confidence.
What to expect on a hack
- Escorted riding through Epping Forest with experienced staff
- A choice of routes and durations (subject to availability and conditions)
- Suitable options based on rider level and safety requirements
- A relaxed, scenic riding experience in one of Essex’s most iconic outdoor areas
Assessment lesson required
All riders wishing to hack with High Beech Riding School will need to complete an assessment lesson with one of our qualified instructors. This helps us confirm safety, match you to the right horse, and ensure you are comfortable and in control before riding out in the forest.
We reserve the right to refuse a hack to any rider not reaching the required safety standards. Introductory packages including the assessment lesson are available.
