I came to High Beech Riding School in the summer of 2021 with no previous equine experience, hoping to gain some work experience as I wanted to study veterinary medicine at university. By the end of those 3 weeks of work experience I had gained so much knowledge and experience I was lucky enough to be offered the chance to become a part time groom and I have never looked back. Since then I have learnt to ride, and completed my BHS Bronze and Silver ride safe awards which has given me the opportunity to escort hacks and walk out in the forest.
I often get asked who my favourite pony is, but of course they all have their own personalities so I couldn’t possibly choose. However, there are some that stand out to me, particularly a couple of our younger geldings Cracker and Noodle who I have had the privilege of riding. I was able to assist with their schooling when they first joined the team and since then have ridden them in group lessons when I get the opportunity as well as taken them on forest hacks, which has been great fun! They both have strong personalities but can be very eager to please. I am pictured here with Mistral, one of our Appaloosas that I also love hacking.
I am now studying Veterinary Physiotherapy at university, hoping to bring some of these skills to help in my work at High Beech Riding School, but you will still see me over the weekends or holidays helping out with the Saddle Club, Own a Pony Mornings, escorting walk outs and the odd hack and welcoming clients old and new.
