High Beech Riding School regularly accepts work experience students from local schools and colleges; and we are happy to discuss equestrian opportunities at our riding school in High Beech, Essex.
What students can expect
All work experience students and apprentices complete induction training to ensure they are fully compliant with our onsite Health & Safety practices and Risk Assessments. Students are supervised by qualified staff and work as part of the wider team; supporting both horse care and customer-facing duties.
- Structured induction covering site rules, safety, and expectations
- Supervised practical experience in a working riding school environment
- Exposure to stable and yard routines alongside client support where appropriate
Who we are looking for
- Students who can follow instruction and learn quickly
- Confidence dealing with people of different ages
- A positive attitude and reliability as part of a team
Apprenticeships and progression
HBRS has participated in apprenticeships for several years. We have supported students through multiple NVQ levels; with several going on to build equestrian careers both at HBRS and across the wider industry. Some continue to study and complete BHS examinations; progressing from groom roles to qualified instructor positions over time.
College partnerships
We work closely with Writtle College and their team to help ensure students complete training and coursework to a high standard. College visits and training can form part of a student schedule; however, most day-to-day learning is completed at HBRS for valuable hands-on experience in a real working environment.
